In November, Lisa Hook, Regional Manager for the State Counsel on Developmental Disabilities, visited Imperial Way program and presented on the topic of Self-Advocacy. She discussed the importance of speaking up for individual rights and described the many ways consumers can do this. Lisa reminded the group that if you have a concern or complaint, or feel your rights have been violated, it’s important that you report it as soon as possible to someone you trust. She also reminded all about knowing who your Service Coordinator at NBRC is and communicating any issues you are having through them. Lisa was a great presenter and all enjoyed what she had to share with the group. Lisa has two more presentations scheduled coming in December and January, which we are looking forward to!
