Some Great Stories About the People We Support!

The following question was asked of four women who work on housekeeping crews at either the Vintage Inn or Villagio Inn and Spa, in Yountville. NPS has supported a crew at these hotels for over 11 years!

What does Napa Personnel Systems mean to you?

  • Jessica P.
"For starters it means employment and learning how to get along with other people on the job and nobody is an island because you have to work with the others around you. It gives me an incentive to get up everyday and be on time for work. It keeps me busy so I won't have so much free time. In addition, it provides me with a paycheck at Vintage Inn. I will be able to afford my own place and walk to work."

  • Cynthia C.
For Cynthia it means getting jobs and a place to hang out with her friends.

  • MaryAnne D.
As For MaryAnne, it means steady work. "I like what I'm doing because I like people, They're fun to be with." Like Cynthia, Mary Ann likes being with her friends. "They help me to learn how to read and write. Napa Personnel Systems helps me to keep a steady job. I was at the Vintage Inn for seven years and Villagio for four years. MaryAnne also said it helps me learn to cook spaghetti and pizza. We also made breakfast burritos and pancakes. We've also made cupcakes for different people's birthdays and special occasions."

  • Carla M.
Good coffee in the morning with friends.

Other interesting people supported by Napa Personnel Systems:

  • Trina P. is the general assistant for Cakebread Cellars in the Napa Valley. She is well liked and has a work ethic that astounds Cakebread co-workers and managers. A while back Trina was on a leave of absence for 6 weeks. James, a co-worker, said "Boy, we really missed Trina, she really works hard." --Lori Buterbaugh, Job Coach

    Improving Every Day
  • Aaron B. is a thirty-eight year old gentleman who has been working at Taco Bell for over seven years. He is undoubtedly one of the hardest workers of the restaurant. The words "you can count on him" defiantly apply to Aaron. Aaron is very proud of the fact that he has a California driver's license. If you ask him about it he immediately opens his wallet and shows you the license. Aaron is saving his money so he can buy a Dodge Ram V-8 truck. The day this happens will be a major highlight in Aaron's life. Everyone who knows him hopes the day will come soon. -- Dave Sumbardo, Job Coach

  • This is a short, but meaningful true event of one of my crewmembers, Bill C., and the dedication he has to his job. One day earlier this month, Bill C. had a doctor's appointment in the morning and was to be off the entire day. As usual I picked up the other three members of my crew and off we went to our first job site at Napa Sanitation District where we start work at 6:30 am. About 40 minutes into our work, I walked to the van, as I do everyday to unlock the back door of the vehicle, and as I turned to my left who should I see but Bill . . . with a huge smile on his face, a bounce in his walk, carrying his yellow lunch box and telling me "they didn't pick me up so I came to work!" Since there was some miscommunication and the caregiver did not pick up Bill up at the appointed time Bill came to work. He was willing to walk from his house to the job site, which is almost two miles. To me, as a job coach, it is a memory I will always carry of a man's dedication to his work and the love of his job . . . it was all in his smile and his warm morning welcome to me and the rest of the crew. --Peter Alan Foran, Job Coach

Doing Great Work Can Be Its Own Reward
  • Carrie H. is an Office Assistant 1 for North Bay Regional Center. She has worked for them for over 6 years. She has come a long way from being a quiet introvert at work to going out of her way to say good morning to her co-workers. Carrie likes to keep busy and enjoys learning new assignments. She has become quite skilled at handling large assignments such as bulk mailers. Whenever she is planing to be gone on vacation, Carrie makes sure she prepares extra packets and pamphlets for her co-workers who might need them. They have come to appreciate Carrie and all the hard work she does for them. Carrie's goal is to one day be a Client Services Assistant. You are well on your way to reaching this goal Carrie, keep up the good work! --Janette Tallant, Job Coach
