Our Mission
Valued by – and valuable to – society.
At NVSS, our core values of collaboration, innovation, respect, and empowerment are at the heart of everything we do. Our vision is a society where individuals with disabilities are not only valued, but feel valued — as neighbors, coworkers, artists, students, and friends.
“Together we make a difference.”
Our History
More than 50 years
in the Napa Community
NVSS has been a part of the Napa Valley for over five decades — growing from a single program into a multi-faceted organization serving hundreds of individuals every year. Our three programs each have deep roots in the community, with Imperial Way dating back to 1956, Napa Personnel Systems to 1985, and Brown Street Gallery continuing to grow as a creative hub for artists with developmental disabilities.
1956
Imperial Way founded. One of the earliest community support programs for individuals with developmental disabilities in Napa Valley.
1972
Napa Valley Support Services established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
1985
Napa Personnel Systems launched, providing job placement support one person at a time.
1986
NPS earns CARF accreditation for excellence in job placement — a standard maintained every year since.
Today
Three programs, hundreds of individuals served annually, and a community that’s stronger for it.
